Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Simply put, this is the process of modifying your website so that it will appear higher in search engine results when a user searches for the products and services you offer. This is sometimes referred to as "organic", "natural" or "algorithmic" search engine marketing. The key advantages of this sort of marketing are:

  • Your business will receive highly qualified internet traffic from users that have a strong propensity to purchase your products or services.
  • It is a very cost effective form of marketing

There are a number of steps in the process of optimizing a website. Some of the factors that need to be considered in order to properly optimize a site are the URL (name of the website), the content contained within the website, other sites that link to your website, the underlying code of your website (metatags), understanding the process that search engines use to catalog and index websites in their search results (algorithms) and the submission of your website to the search engines. There are many other aspects and subtle nuances involved with the process, but we prefer to keep the jargon to a minimum.

What sets us apart from other Search Engine Optimization companies is our "Strategic Common Sense". While other firms are wasting your time and money by submitting your website to thousands of different search engines and performing other "techno-geek" tricks, which usually have a negative impact on your website we spend that that time focusing our efforts on submitting your site to the search engines that "work". Since over 90% of internet searches utilize 5 data sources (Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL, DMOZ) we concentrate the majority of our efforts there. Sure it may feel great to have your site listed on several hundred search engines, but that does not necessarily translate to more qualified traffic or sales. However, we will periodically utilize some smaller alternative search engines if we ascertain there will be a good fit for specific clients or if there are gains to be made in the area of link popularity (a measure used by major search engines, especially Google, to assign a value to a website and determine how it should rank in the search results).

There are really no secrets when it comes to Search Engine Optimization. The information on how to do it is readily available online. However, the amount of time, knowledge and diligence that needs to go into the process is extreme. It also needs to be done by human beings who know what they are doing. Don't be fooled by automated software packages or fly by night companies that guarantee to optimize or "tune up" your website and get you indexed at the top of the search engines. These are typically old programs that ceased being effective 5 years ago or are completely bogus. Search engine technology changes on a daily basis and unless you constantly keep up with the latest indexing practices your site will not achieve top placement. We manually monitor and manage each client's site on a weekly basis and are constantly making the adjustments needed to get the highest placements possible and to stay there.
